Foremost® Insurance Expands Dwelling Fire Program in Maryland

GRAND RAPIDS , Michigan – Foremost Insurance Group is pleased to announce the expansion of its Dwelling Fire program in Maryland. Effective September 1, 2009, Foremost introduces new Dwelling Fire policies and endorsements specifically designed for the unique needs of landlord, owner-occupied or vacant properties. Foremost is positioned to write a broad spectrum of landlord and rental property customers with the coverages customers want.

Typically known as the solution for hard-to-place landlord and owner-occupied properties, Foremost enhanced this program to include standard and preferred business.

All new business will be written on the new Dwelling Fire One or Dwelling Fire Three policies, while current customers will be moved into the new program at renewal.

“Landlords now have one company for all their rental properties,” says Andy Thomas, Foremost zone executive director. “We insure rental units in superior condition and also rentals with some minor problems. This new program provides significantly lower rates to customers without prior claims and to those who own homes valued over $120,000.”

With Foremost’s broadened underwriting, the company now accepts:

  • Vacation rental properties
  • Homes with open foundations

Some of the changes to the Dwelling Fire program include:

  • Homes up to 15 years old may qualify for an Age-of-Home discount up to 25%.
  • The counties of Baltimore (excluding the city of Baltimore), Carroll, Harford and Howard are now part of Territory C with a new lower base rate.
  • Lower rates for homes valued over $120,000.
