In 1961, Foremost introduced TravelSure, the first insurance policy designed specifically for Travel Trailers.

Fire Hurts!, the first arson reward program to target mobile home arsons, was started by Foremost in 1974 and continues today.

In addition to Fire Hurts! we’ve campaigned for tie-down laws. Foremost employees worked with the Department of Housing and Urban Development to help establish the original mobile home building codes in the mid-1970s.

Foremost earned the endorsement of AARP to provide mobile home insurance to their customers in 1989.

Foremost is recommended by several recreational vehicle associations to provide insurance for their members.

In 1993, Foremost began offering insurance programs for landlords and specialty homeowners.

Foremost has sponsored Foremost's Butterflies are Blooming, the largest temporary butterfly exhibit in the United States, at the Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park in Michigan since 1996. The six-week exhibit is held each year in March and April.

On March 7, 2000, Foremost was acquired by the Farmers Insurance Group of Companies.

During 2000, Foremost began offering motorcycle and off-road vehicle insurance programs, including a program for snowmobiles.

In 2002, Foremost began offering an insurance program for personal watercraft.

In 2003, Foremost first offered its Family Boaters insurance program.

In 2004, we were endorsed by AARP to offer our motorcycle insurance to their members.

Also in 2004, Foremost's product line expanded to include collectible auto.

Today, Foremost has over 2,000 employees across the country. This includes people who work in our home office, regional claim offices, regional agencies and our field marketing and claims staff.

In 2007, Foremost announced an agreement with Ducati North America to be their official insurance provider in the U.S., and the creation of the Ducati Foremost Insurance Program.
